With its pioneering spirit and vision, Fill Machine Engineering has developed into an international technology leader over the 45 years since its foundation.
Fill Machine Engineering celebrates the company´s 45th anniversary. Since its foundation as a two-man operation in 1966, the company has developed into an internationally leading system and machine engineering company. To celebrate this special occasion, Fill invited people to come to its open days on 30 September and 1 October 2011 in Gurten, Upper Austria. Customers from around the world trust the Innviertel-based machine engineering experts´ competence. Fill is, amongst other things, the worldwide number one in the construction of gravity casting and premachining centers for cylinder heads and engine blocks, as well as being the world leader in the production of ski manufacturing machines.
Gurten, Upper Austria, 22 September 2011 – Fill Machine Engineering is 45 years old and that is good reason for a celebration. On 30 September and 1 October 2011 the machine engineering specialists invited people to attend its open days in Gurten, Upper Austria. Company tours and fascinating information offer a glimpse behind the gates of this successful family-owned firm. Fill is one of the largest and most interesting employers in the region and has 495 employees. It invests much time, commitment and money into internal projects. "Happy, motivated and above all healthy employees are the vital foundation of our success," said CEO Andreas Fill. Fill Machine Engineering offers excellent vocational apprenticeships in six trades in a state-of-the-art training workshop. The company stands for innovation in the most varied fields and has received numerous awards (Pegasus, Design Award, Innovation, Health, Employee Development).

Fill has been family owned since it was founded. "We are committed to progress and stability," explain the CEOs, Andreas Fill and Wolfgang Rathner, when asked about the firm´s philosophy. "At the same time our manufacturing is always ahead of its time. In addition, we work with the latest management methods. The company achieves the balance between stability and progress in the best possible way. This is supported by the figures: Staff turn over has been less than 3.5 % for years. On average, each employee spends 5 days a year on training or development courses. 14 million cylinder heads (from 80 million worldwide) and 150 million chassis components are produced every year on Fill machines. Every third car in the world runs with parts that have been made on Fill machines (Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Honda, VW, etc.). Aircraft parts for the Airbus A380, Boeing Dreamliner 787 and Rolls Royce are tested on Fill ultrasonic testing systems. A total of 6 percent of turnover is put into the development of new products.
Fill is the future
The four Fill Competence Centers – Metal, Plastics, Wood and Service – are excited about excellent future prospects. A partnership agreement with W&K in China has just been announced. Fill has opened its first branch in Shanghai and now has direct access to the huge Chinese market. Although European customers are looked after from Gurten, Austria, the machine engineering experts work together with local cooperation partners in North and South America and in Russia.
