The foundry industry gathered in Gurten for an expert exchange
At the end of April, Fill once again became the central meeting place for the international foundry industry. With the Fill Innovation Days 2026 and the 68th Austrian Foundry Conference, two high-profile events followed one after the other, impressively combining technical expertise, practical relevance, and personal exchange.
Experience innovation live
The Fill Innovation Days 2026 took place on April 21 and 22. Around 150 visitors took advantage of the opportunity to learn firsthand about current developments and future trends in foundry technology.
For the duration of the event, an assembly hall was quickly transformed into an impressive exhibition hall. Here, Fill presented innovative technologies and machines in live operation along the entire process chain - from core shooting through casting, cooling, core removal, and finishing all the way to machining. This allowed visitors to experience the solutions holistically and in a practical context.
A special focus of the Fill Innovation Days 2026 was on the technical presentations by Fill experts. From process optimization with vacuum dosing systems to the potential and limitations of AI-based optical inspection systems and data quality in casting finishing, their presentations highlighted the current challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
As part of the Fill Tour, participants also gained a comprehensive insight into Fill’s expertise, business areas, and values. The event impressively demonstrated how innovation, technical know-how, and teamwork intertwine at Fill and once again underscored the company’s commitment to driving technological developments forward together with its customers.
Foundry Conference at the Fill Future Dome
Immediately following this, on April 23 and 24, 2026, another industry event of particular significance took place: The ÖGI – Austrian Foundry Institute, together with Proguss Austria and the Chair of Foundry Engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben, hosted the 68th Austrian Foundry Conference at Fill in Gurten.
Under the motto “Current Developments in Industry & Research,” the conference offered a high-caliber program featuring 28 technical presentations from a wide range of fields in ferrous and non-ferrous foundry technology. The program was complemented by 20 exhibitors who presented their solutions and innovations. The Fill Future Dome provided a unique setting for the event.
Fill as a Meeting Place for the Industry
More than 240 participants accepted the invitation, making the conference a great success. A special highlight was the traditional foundry evening at the nearby Loryhof, which once again provided the ideal setting for personal exchange, new contacts, and in-depth discussions.
On Friday morning, over 200 visitors also took advantage of the opportunity for a company tour at Fill. They were particularly impressed by the innovative strength and the technologies in the field of foundry and machining technology.
With these two events, Fill has once again positioned itself as a platform for knowledge transfer, innovation, and dialogue within the foundry industry. The intensive exchange between industry, research, and practice underscored how important joint initiatives are for the further development of foundry technology.
Two days, two events - a strong signal for the future of the industry.
