The production of three-layer panels is a traditional process that has been increasingly automated in recent years due to rising volumes. Many years of experience and technical expertise - also in the digital world - characterize the Fill team. We supply complete solutions and take responsibility for any level of automation in panel production. From individual machines to full automation. We combine proven and new machine concepts and handle data management between all components and the control system.

The basic idea is the prefabrication of semi-finished products (middle layer and top layer decks) in an economical quantity. These are stored in a fully automated high-rack warehouse using a transverse transfer carriage. If required, the decks are removed in order to press the ordered quantity of a specific board type. Optimum wood utilization, maximum flexibility and highly economical production costs are the advantages of this production method. On request, the control system provides valuable information about the process, the raw material and the individual components of the system.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE FINE-CUTTING BANDSAW

Efficient, precise, flexible

The high-performance bandsaw SPEEDLINER 920-350 saws top layer lamellas made of sawn timber as well as middle layer lamellas made of glued laminated timber. This tried-and-tested bandsaw has been combining maximum performance and flexibility for 20 years now. Thanks to ongoing further developments, the SPEEDLINER 920-350 has reached a new level of perfection in the 2025 edition.

The workpieces are guided on a precise metal transport chain and cut into lamellas in five to six SPEEDLINER modules arranged one behind the other with a kerf of 1.3 mm. Proven saw heads cut with maximum precision and produce a surface that can be glued.

Process Automation

The raw material yield plays a major role in the production of top layers. In Fill's highly efficient systems, the lamellas separated from the sawn timber are stacked and sorted according to quality.

The lamellas are then transported to the joint gluing line, where they are glued to form the corresponding top layer decks.

The finished top layer decks are transported to the high-rack warehouse using cross transfer carriages.

Innovative Joint Gluing

The newly developed SPEEDCOMPOSER TOP for top layers enables fully automatic and economical production of 3-layer panels. The system presses lamellas from sawn timber into top layer decks in a very short cycle time.

This innovative joint gluing system uses fast-curing PUR adhesives. They enable a much more efficient production of top layer decks and single-layer boards of outstanding quality - and all this with a very small footprint.

Equipped with longitudinal and/or transverse saws, the system can be integrated into a fully automated production line with loading and unloading gantries.

FULLY AUTOMATED CORE LAYER PRODUCTION

Everything from a single source

In core layer production, lamellas are cut from sawn timber and pressed into glulam, which is then cut up and glued into core layer decks.

This method enables an extremely high yield of up to 75 percent of the raw material.

The finished core layer decks are conveyed to the high-rack warehouse using transverse transfer carriages.

High-speed, compact & space-saving

The SPEEDCOMPOSER CORE presses lamellas made from sawn timber, planed timber or glued wood into high-quality core layers for three-layer panels or parquet in a short cycle time.

Depending on requirements, one or two adhesives can be applied in parallel with the joint gluing system. Commercially available hotmelt adhesives or PVAC white glues are used. While hotmelt ensures fast transport strength, white glue provides high fatigue strength if required. Complex curing systems are therefore not required. Further advantages are a high throughput rate with a compact, space-saving design.

The SPEEDCOMPOSER CORE can be equipped with longitudinal or transverse saws and integrated into a fully automatic production line by means of loading and unloading gantries.

Highly efficient laying system

The quantity of top layer and core layer decks required for a customer order is removed from the high-rack warehouse by means of cross transfer carts and transported to the press system.

As all components are already joint-glued, only a simple surface press without side pressure and press plates is required.

Individual and flexible solution

The SPEEDFILLER solves repair tasks on panels with various solid wood elements (resin pocket patches, knot dowels, round wood patches, etc.) or viscous filler materials (1C putty, 2C PU, epoxy, etc.).

Thanks to their proven modular design, SPEEDFILLER systems can be individually adapted to a wide range of customer requirements.

The high performance and efficiency as well as a reproducible repair quality allow an upgrade of the panel quality to be achieved.

The repaired solid wood panels are sanded and formatted in the final process step.

The panels are then stacked and packaged according to the customer order.
