For the first time, a big player in the Indian aerospace industry is investing in a premium solution from Fill.
Kineco Kaman Composites India (KKCI) is a multinational joint venture between Kaman Aerospace Group (USA) and Kineco Limited (India). The company based in Goa manufactures advanced structural components from composite materials for air and space travel. An initial order for an ACCUBOT ultrasound inspection system for through-transmission inspection of composite components has now been placed with Fill Machine Engineering in Gurten (Upper Austria). With this, the Upper Austrian machine engineering specialists are opening up great opportunities on the huge Indian market.
Gurten, May 11, 2022 – Fill is delighted with its first order from India for a complex, high-performance ultrasound inspection system. The customer, Kineco Kaman Composites, will be supplied with a high-precision ACCUBOT UT Inspection robot testing system in the first quarter of 2023. "This order opens the door to the Indian aerospace market for us. We see great potential for our innovative technologies there. Furthermore, we have the opportunity to set new performance standards for inspecting composite components in the Indian market," explains Wilhelm Rupertsberger, Head of the Plastics Competence Center at Fill.
Composite parts inspection by robot
Kineco Kaman Composites manufactures structural components and assemblies from composite materials for airplanes, helicopters, UAVs, and spacecraft, utilizing carbon-fiber and fiberglass materials as well as autoclave curing technology. As safety-relevant components, they are subjected to extensive non-destructive testing. The ACCUBOT dual-robot ultrasound inspection system is a multimodal testing system with highest levels of flexibility and dynamism. With an inspection speed of up to 2 m/s in through-transmission inspection mode, the productivity and reliability of non-destructive component testing are raised to a new level. The system architecture is designed such that other measuring and testing methods, apart from ultrasonic inspection, can be integrated into the system. Control by Siemens Sinumerik 840D sl ensures highest levels of web dynamics and precision.
