Fill Acquires Kurtz Ersa Foundry Machinery

27.04.2026

Asset deal ensures global service for Kurtz systems and continuity in ongoing projects.

With the acquisition of the foundry machinery division from the German Kurtz Ersa Group, Fill Gesellschaft m.b.H. (Gurten, Austria) is strengthening its position as a full-service provider of automated foundry solutions. The asset deal includes, among other things, patents, technologies, and technical know-how for low-pressure casting machines, as well as existing customer relationships and ongoing business opportunities. In addition, Fill will ensure global service for Kurtz foundry equipment. The contract was signed on April 20, 2026.

Gurten / Kreuzwertheim, April 26, 2026 – A key priority for both companies is ensuring a seamless transition for customers. Expertise in the areas of project planning, sales, and application engineering will be fully integrated into Fill’s organization. This will ensure continuity in ongoing projects as well as reliable support for existing and future customers.

A win-win situation for all involved
With this step, the Austrian machine engineering company Fill further strengthens its position as a leading provider of customized turnkey solutions for the foundry industry while simultaneously expanding its technological portfolio. “Our customers benefit from a strong range of services: We develop complete systems for manufacturing even the most complex components and supply fully automated production lines that perform all necessary operations - from casting, cooling, core removal, casting finishing, and machining to testing and packaging,” says Andreas Fill, CEO of Fill Gesellschaft m.b.H.
For Kurtz Ersa, the divestiture of its foundry machinery business is part of a strategic realignment. The internationally active machinery manufacturer is increasingly focusing on standardized, globally scalable solutions and is experiencing strong growth, particularly in the electronics industry. “We made a conscious decision to transfer our business with customized special solutions to our long-standing market competitor and project partner Fill,” explains Thomas Mühleck, CEO of Kurtz Ersa. “With complete automated casting lines including machining, Fill offers the ideal platform to successfully continue the Kurtz foundry machinery business in the best interests of our long-standing customers.”
The contract was signed on April 20, 2026, during the Fill Innovation Days 2026 and the 68th Austrian Foundry Conference at Fill’s headquarters in Gurten. Both companies view the acquisition as a win-win situation: Fill gains additional technologies, markets, and customers, while Kurtz Ersa consistently continues its strategic transformation and ensures long-term stability and support for its customers. The transaction is scheduled to close on July 1, 2026. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
